Information gathering consultancy Mars Omega approached us to create their identity and online presence. The brief was to reflect their standing as strategic experts in market analysis and operations with resources across the world.
The aesthetic — the use of generously-kerned Trajan type, the seal-like symbol and the rich shade of red — evokes a sense of antiquity and heraldry, almost in a cartoonish, overstated way, and relates to the military heritage and experience of the firm's principals.
The logo comprises a symbol and wordmark, with the symbol composed from pieces that, re-arranged, would form the type-set name exactly as it appears in the full logo.
This simplified allegory of the company's essential offering alludes to discovering, translating and revealing; meaningful information is seen to be drawn from an apparently inaccessible and innocuous source.
Business cards are duplexed — half vermillion, half white — resulting in a substantial 700gsm card. One side is stamped with a white foil and the reverse is letterpress printed.
