Hackney Nights is an initiative run by Hackney Council to provide training, resources, advice and support to nightlife venues to create safer nights out. We were commissioned to create a user friendly and engaging online learning hub and accreditation system for the venues and their staff.

To engage learners with the content we decided to lean in to the inherently fun nature of a night out in Hackney, using a retro synthwave aesthetic of neon glow and dark backgrounds for an electric, edgy but still easy to use interface.

From the starting point of a poster they had created prior to the project, we expanded on the design language started by Hackney Nights to develop eye-catching neon headings, typography buttons and iconography.

We designed and built the website to be fully responsive across all screen sizes, as learners would be accessing the portal from a variety of different devices, whether at work or home.

As well as the online hub, we provided design support with slide templates for the courses, and print collateral including an accredited venue sticker which a venue would display once they had completed the criteria.
