The Oxford Food Symposium is a yearly event where people from around the world gather to share, learn and be inspired by food research, with keynotes, papers and meals.

Since 2020, when the symposium had to move online for the first time, we have provided support in developing and managing an online event system as well as the design for their main website and each individual symposium’s portal.

We set out to create an environment that was warm, welcoming and scholarly, with past content easy to browse and seamless online event experiences for their attendees – from booking tickets to watching presentations and joining in discussions.

The Oxford Food Symposium is well-established and respected, with a rich history and an inclusive, eclectic community which we wanted to encapsulate in its online identity through the use of typography and image layouts.

Along with the bold, easily digestible headings we added warmth and interest through the application of colour and small woodcut illustrations and flourishes. The mix of traditional and quirky typefaces and graphic elements support their long-established yet still enthusiastic and curious nature.

For each online symposium we craft a “journey” to build excitement, and then adapt each symposium event pages to fit the topic of the year. Our aim is to create an immersive environment for attendees to participate in the panels and discussions.
